Amoye Robinson is a Senior Data Engineer for PQS on the Information Services Team.
How long have you worked at PQS and what is your favorite part about working here?
Though it has only been about 1 year and 4 months, it feels like I have been working at PQS forever, yes, it’s been that great!
My favorite part about working here is being able to interact with all the teams. It keeps things interesting and ultimately builds a great environment for communication and learning new things. It is very rewarding, working in an amazing environment with amazing people who are passionate about their work.
What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
Within the past 5 years, I’ve enjoyed spreading my wings, taking on risks, and finding my passion. I would say the most important thing that I have learned is to be more empathetic and not to conform. (Bear with me as I will explain.) There is a saying that goes, “ You become what we think about.” If you have a goal, and you know where you are going, and you consistently fuel the intent behind that goal, there will be no way of conforming to circumstances or to exterior forces.
Why? Because I’m not outer directed. And being empathetic to others gives me that ability to navigate situations unilaterally and not only from my viewpoint, which also enables patience, and that balance of looking at things through different eyes.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I definitely would have been a teacher or a bingo announcer, if that is a thing.
What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I don’t think I have fully eaten this, but I went hunting with friends, got a deer, tried it… not great.
How do you define success?
Me: Do not argue with others, think before you react.
Others: I disagree.
Me: Yes, you are right.
On a serious note, a person’s thought is what they make of it. So I believe success is doing what you want to do, and doing it at your best.
