Elevating Patient Care,
Amplifying Business Impact
Learn how an independent pharmacist has taken patient care opportunities to the next level and created a relevant financial impact on his business.
Jignesh Gandhi is focused on delivering patient care while improving performance, reimbursements & growing revenues. As an independent pharmacist & clinical services pioneer, he shares how he unlocked clinical revenues with tools, operational changes & by capitalizing on new opportunities.
Gandhi became owner of Holy Family Plaza Pharmacy 20 years ago in Des Plaines, IL. He owns a few stores in the Chicago area. A pharmacy trailblazer, he offered early COVID-19 vaccines & expanded to 30 events for 1,000+ patients/day.
A Journey to High Performing Pharmacy Owner
Like many Independents, Jignesh Gandhi worked for large chains before owning his first store in an outpatient setting. His clinical care expertise started with a rotation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, then working with medical teams at several nearby clinics. He started giving care to the elderly Catholic sisters, going over their medications & providing counseling. As an example, Gandhi says, “Sister Mary, how are you doing? Hey, okay, don’t worry. I’ll call your doctor. This is how I started.”
Improving performance to protect reimbursement and grow revenues
To me, EQUIPP is a revenue-generating tool that helps me give better care to my patients in a more meaningful way. Each time I do something, I’m getting rewarded.
andhi says, “At the end of the day, we all care about patients, saving them money, lives & everything, right? But pharmacists are losing revenue – the whole landscape is changing, & I need to replace income in the pharmacy somehow. Helping patients keeps my Star Ratings high & keeps me from losing reimbursement.”
He tells a story familiar to many. “Right now, nobody wants to talk to the patients, nobody has time, but EQUIPP gives me time to talk to the patients.”
“It’s been very helpful giving me more data to provide better services to the patient.” His staff uses that information to counsel patients & helps them achieve healthier results. “This is how we impact their health & overall well-being on the clinical side.”
Gandhi emphasizes, “To me, EQUIPP is a revenue-generating tool that helps me give better care to my patients in a more meaningful way. Each time I do something, I’m getting rewarded.”
Making the Most of New Enhanced Services: A1C and Blood Pressure
As a pharmacy provider and entrepreneur, he recognizes the value of new EQUIPP Enhanced Services. “My latest success story is the A1C and blood pressure monitoring programs. I already cared for three patients, and it is really amazing. That’s pretty good money compared to dispensing one or two medications. So, it is worth it financially.”
Gandhi reminds his peers, “It is very important for us to pay attention to the EQUIPP gap closure opportunities that we are getting, like the blood pressure and A1C.”
